Favorite Beauty YouTubers?

I don’t know about you guys, but I ALWAYS have YouTube on.

I go back and forth between lots of channels and genres, from music playlists, to talk-shows like Good Mythical Morning and VlogBrothers, to vloggers like Julien Solomita (and of course Jenna), to those weird “satisfying” videos with nice sounds.

But let’s not kid around, it’s mostly beauty videos.

My obession with beauty vloggers began with someone I can guess that a lot of people started with, Tati (Glam Life Guru). I was laying in bed with a broken leg, bored out of my mind and nothing to do but look at my tiny bag of makeup near my bed. The ONLY eye shadow palette I owned was the Maybelline Nudes whatever shitty palette. I was looking to play around with and searched for looks I could do with it. I came across Tati’s review on the palette and my mind was blown. It honestly never occurred to me that eyeshadows were NOT all created equally. Everything she said about the palette was spot on. Tati was my gateway drug.

Don’t get me wrong, I still watch her every day. But as I dive deeper into the internet, I have found some truly incredible vloggers that I could watch their videos all day long and not blink twice

  • Emily Eddington from Beauty Broadcast (emilynoel83)

I really can’t even describe how much I love her. I really love her recommendations. I think out of everything that I’ve tried that she has talked about, we disagree on ONE thing (Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara). She’s down to earth, she’s a mom, she’s so educated on makeup, she really cares about her channel (which she’s been doing for years), she is ALWAYS unsponsored, and she’s just genuinely a person I would be friends with. She has 800,000 subscribers and still responds to my comments.  Her reviews are so in depth, but still so fun. I even screen shot her description boxes of her Emily Awards for shopping references! An absolute gem, meeting her is on my bucket list.

  • Coffee Break with Dani

So beauty, so fun, so bright, so spunky. I love her declutters, I love the way she describes things. She also just has really great life advise in general, and she is so positive. She wears a lot brighter colors than I do but love to see what she comes up with!

  • Jessica Braun (jambeauty89)

Now here’s someone who has the same kind of skin that I do. I really trust her word on things because when she talks about her skin, I literally want to take notes on what she does. She puts out so much content so there’s always something to watch from her!

  • Jackie Aina

I have pretty dry skin, and I am usually the lightest shade in a lot of lines of foundations during the winter. Jackie has very oily skin, and some foundation lines aren’t deep enough for her (we’re lookin at you It Cosmetics, Physicians Formula, Covergirl). And yet I LOVE her. She is so freaking funny. I think I first found her through her “Trends We’re Ditching in 2016” Video. She is just to die for beautiful.

  • KathleenLights

Duh. She’s gorgeous, she’s down to earth, she’s quietly hilarious. (Das Espensive, boxysharm). I would watch that girl eat celery for hours and I wouldn’t care. She’s just a gem.

  • ThickThrift (Cassie)

IMO, a severely underrated channel. She is just classy, sweet, all around good person. And her reviews/first impressions are so thorough!

  • Shaaanxo/Carli Bybel

I group these two together because they both have phenomenal BH palettes. Shannon posts beautiful tutorials, and has a stunning collection (and face for that matter). Carli is just a sweetheart and she is unbelievably pretty.

(I really cannot stand MannyMua, JeffreeStar, LauraLee,  PatrickStarrr, or NikkiTutorials, sorry not sorry. I can take about 5 minutes of Jacyln Hill.)

Honorable mentions!

Not every amazing YouTuber has millions of subscribers. Here are some of favorite smaller channels!

  • MakeupByAmyMichelle (a great reviewer)
  • Liv Loves Her Makeup (a sweet lady with a musical voice and mouth like a sailor, i freaking love it)
  • Andrea Matillano (she has such a beautiful collection and we really have the same taste!)
  • Jenn Luvs Reviews (if you don’t watch What’s Up In Makeup, how do you keep up with makeup news??)
  • KittenMoustache (she has the most perfect calming British voice)
  • Viidreamcatcher (we would be friends IRL)

Who are your favorite YouTubers?? I would love to know!

Massive 75% Off Drugstore Makeup Haul! (Store Closing)

Sadly, neighborhood RiteAid closed last month.

I personally like RiteAid the most out of every drugstore near me, mostly for the deals and the Plenti points. The only downside is the relatively small selection from number of brands represented. (I never would have bought anything from Milani, NYC (r.i.p.), E.L.F., or Pixi without YouTube.) And the collections are usually smaller and outdated.

I just so happened to be in the RiteAid when they started putting up the signs that ALL COSMETICS AND NAIL POLISH WERE 75% OFF. I literally ran to grab a hand basket. This was my opportunity to grab everything I had wanted to try from the drugstore, and to stock up on my usual favorites. I went a little crazy… but i’m sure if you’re reading this you will probably appreciate how unbelievably insane this score was.

All of this, plus some more things i grabbed in the following days, was around $120, a freaking $480 value. I’m still in shock.

Face Products

A quick recap:

  • Every bottle of Rimmel Lasting Finish (for summer and winter)
  • A PF Butter Blush & Happy Booster blush (normally crazy expensive)
  • Some of my go to BB creams, Almay Smart Shade and PF InstaReady

  • Rimmel and PF bronzers
  • Maybelline Baby Skin Primer for when i use up my Benefit Porefessional
  • A Covergirl Instant Cheekbones and L’oréal True Match Blush
  • (not pictured) the new maybelline blush pallete, it’s freaking gorgeous

  • (from the last picture) two PF Matte Quads (holy god these are so good)
  • every pair of Ardell falsies they had
  • every tube of Maybelline Lash Sensational (my fav)
  • CoverGirl Supersizer and ClumpCrusher (emilynoel83 anyone?)
  • Almay Get Up and Grow (i loved this once but the tube broke when i dropped it?)
  • L’oréal Laquer Liner (Tati anyone?)
  • Maybelline Baby Lips (duh)
  • Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss, i actually went back and bought every shade they had, these are amazing
  • a few random L’oréal mascaras
  • (Not pictured) every Maybelline Brow Satin in medium brown they had, i go through these like crazy so buying 5 of them was a great investment

Nails & Such

  • individual nail polish remover at like 12 cents a pop
  • Wet n’ Wild Gel Polish
  • Revlon Color Stay Gel Envy
  • Sally Hanson Gel (terrible formula across the board with this line)
  • more of those Butter Kisses
  • a random CoverGirl single shadow that turned out to be a perfect one shadow

So that’s it! Crazy right? Paying a dollar or two for some of these items was so exhilarating, it’s really dampened my need for buying from the drugstore for a long time! just wishing that this would happen to a sephora near me someday 😉

Using Shit Up (Empties March 2017)

Hey y’all, welcome to the blog! I’ve been wanted to start this out for awhile but I just haven’t had the time. I didn’t know that WordPress had an app, so that’s probably how I’ll do most of my posts. Anyways, let’s get to the empties:

First, I am obsessed with empties. I genuinely love to use things up, it gives me the weirdest sense of satisfaction. Like, hell yeah i got my money’s worth, know what i mean? That being said, not all of these things i actually used up…. (fail.)

1) Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in 40: I used about half of this, but it was getting old and started to smell different (I know, gross right?) I’ve had that for more than a year, and it’s a beautiful, natural foundation. It actually makes your skin look healthy (the only way i could describe this lol). But it’s way too dark for me in the winter. I have the lightest shade 10 right now and it’s perfect for my pale ass. (I don’t put foundation on my butt, i’m not that weird).

2) A mini Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush: Used to live in my purse, great on the go, but I’ve found better since.

3) Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara: holy grail mascara (holy grail is so over used in the beauty community. like I get the point, “finding the holy grail,” but I bet if you asked any airhead wannabe youtubers, they wouldn’t know it’s the cup that Jesus drank out of at the Last Supper, it’s makeup, people, come on now.) Makes my lashes so feathery and pretty and never flakes.

4) Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Warm Light (I think that’s the color, I’ve already trashed it all.) A really nice concealer, I bought it impulsively at Ulta one day. It was really yellow on me but I still thought it was good. Really hydrating, decent coverage. Wouldn’t buy again because Shape Tape (duh) but glad I used it up!

5) Udderly Smooth Foot Cream: Everything about my life is dry. My face, eyes, lips, elbows, shins, and especially my feet. I cannot fall asleep without dunking my whole body in moisturizer. This probably sounds insane, but if my dry feet rub up against my sheets, I feel so uncomfortable that it keeps me awake until I fix it. (Anyone else, or am I alone in my insanity?) I just liked this because it’s pretty cheap and you get a lot.

Bonus Round: Skin Care Sample Empties!

6) Mario Badescue Enzyme Revitalizing Mask: Got about 6-7 uses out of this. At first, I didn’t think it did much of anything, but i noticed that it was actually making my skin really soft and bright. Smells like that classic clay skin care smell (which I don’t mind at all) and it feels great massaged into the skin when you wash it off. Might buy the full size during a sale!

7) Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate: *sigh* I should have conserved this. Absolutely beautiful, hydrating, lovely eye cream. The full size is insanely expensive, and unfortunately my busy ass forget to snatch it up during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty Sale. I will definitely be taking a pair of scissors to this to get the last bits out.

And that’s! Hope you enjoyed this little empties update and reviews. I want to get this blog polished and up and running soon! Thanks for reading! (insert cheesy beauty blogger sign-off here.)
